The thing about storytelling, and its power, is that it can be applied on a micro and macro level. It can be used as the marketer sees fit. Let me explain how it can be applied for each category:
Storytelling on a micro level is when it’s used for specific strategies. For instance, it could be for a specific marketing campaign, for a website, for a specific product, or for any marketing material that your brand puts out there.
One great example of storytelling, on a micro level, is an advert Google produced for their search engine. Google produced a short, 3-minute movie about a man in India telling his granddaughter about his dear childhood friend. The woman then uses Google’s search engine exclusively to find that friend, and arranges a meet up. By utilizing strong emotions, the purpose and power of the search engine is properly communicated.
